Cornwall benefits from a unified family court in the Superior Court of Justice, meaning it deals with all family matters including divorce, division of property, support, custody and access, child protection, and adoption. In some other parts of Ontario family law jurisdiction is split between the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice.

Cornwall FamIly Court LOCATION & Directions

The Court is located at 29 Second Street West, in a single modern downtown location about 10 minutes south of the Highway 401. Take the McConnell Exit # 792 from the 401, drive south to Second Street, and turn right driving west to just past Pitt Street.

Cornwall Family Court Parking

Very limited free parking is available at the courthouse (off Third Street), but you'll need to arrive early in the morning to snag a space. While short term meter parking is available on street, because court times are unpredictable your best parking bet is in the municipal lot on the south side of Second Street just across from the courthouse.

Cornwall Family Courthouse Hours

Courthouse hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cornwall FamIly Courthouse Setup

The entire courthouse is on one level. Walking through the main entrance, everything you'll need for family law is to your left.

Walking up the main corridor you'll find the Cornwall Family Duty Counsel office on your right, the Cornwall Family Legal Information Clinic (FLIC) on your left, the court administration office with a dedicated family court clerk counter further up to your left, larger courtrooms #3, #4, and #5  in which family law matters are often heard to your right, and courtrooms #9 and #10 which are used for family law case and settlement conferences further up the hall to your left. The trial coordinator's office (whose help is needed to set court dates) is located at the far end of the hallway.

There is currently no security screening of those entering the courthouse.
